Tim Dranttel: Wasteful school board

Wasteful school board

You have got to be kidding me! In your Aug. 23 editorial “A vote to fail,” now you claim that politics have no place in public education! I could not agree with you more. About time you climbed down from your pulpit and joined the rest of us.

However, where have you been for the last 17 years? Your paper has been at the tip of the spear injecting politics into education. Maybe The N&O should look back at the last three years and see how many times you used “Republican-led school board.”

Additionally, I would not give the school board another cent until it starts using its resources more efficiently. If you had kids who rode the school bus, maybe you would have noticed scores of school buses driving empty through Wake County this week. Practicing. In full-size school buses! What a waste. If they had used a fleet of Priuses, the money saved this week could have done much good in the classroom.

This is just one of many examples of wasted money I’ve seen in the school system, run by Democrats and Republicans.
