Durham deputies seek homicide suspect

From staff reportsAugust 26, 2013

— Sheriff’s deputies are still looking for a man they think fired the shot that killed another man in a home on Stoney Creek Circle early Friday morning.

Deputies are looking for Carlos Hernandez, who they say left the home before they arrived. They described him as being in his early to mid-40s and said he may have been driving a small, red sedan.

Hernandez has not been charged with a crime, but sheriff’s department spokesman Paul Sherwin described him as a suspect.

Sherwin said Monday that the dead man has been identified as Oscar Armando Elfaro, 42. He was shot and killed during an altercation inside the home at about 1:30 a.m. Friday.

The sheriff’s departments asks anyone with information to call the Investigations Division at 919-560-0880 or the sheriff’s crime tip line at 919-560-7151.
