Play of the week: On a fourth down deep in Cary territory, Imps defender Andrew Grena broke free to sack Broughton quarterback Parick Kearney. Rashaad Sidbury was credited with half a sack and Trevor Ellis helped put Kearney down. The play helped preserve a 30-24 victory.

Player of the week: Braxton Berrios, Leesville Road: Scored on runs of 28, 60, 30 and 52 yards and gained 206 yards in the first half of a 62-21 win over Durham Jordan.

Cole Sakowski, Corinth Holders: Completed 13 of 24 passes for 267 yards, and scored the winning touchdown in overtime, in a 32-26 win over Northern Nash.

Chris Leonard, Wake Forest: Intercepted three passes, returning one for a touchdown, in a 28-14 win over Panther Creek.

Nyheim Hines, Garner: Returned a kickoff for a touchdown, ran for a touchdown and caught a pass for a touchdown in Garner’s 21-16 victory over Middle Creek.

Luke Massai, Green Hope: Passed for 218 yards in a 14-12 loss to Cardinal Gibbons in his first varsity start.

Trai Sharpe, Carrboro: Rushed for four touchdowns in a 36-19 win over Cedar Ridge.

Brant Grisel, Middle Creek: Passed for 186 yards before leaving the game with an injury in a 21-16 loss to Garner.

Patrick Kearney, Broughton: Completed 14 of 24 passes for 284 yards and ran for a touchdown in a 30-24 loss to Cary.

Matt Koehler, Sanderson: Threw for 228 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for two touchdowns in a 21-13 loss to Knightdale.

Ti Chris Pinnix, Pittsboro Northwood: Threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, including 155 yards to Jalen Smith, in a 39-14 win over East Chapel Hill.

David Rhem, East Wake: Dashed for 216 yards in a 44-18 win over South Johnston.

Joel Evans, Durham Riverside: Scored both Pirates touchdowns and rushed for 195 yards in a 17-14 win over Chapel Hill.

Rondell James, Apex: Led a 43-0 win over Harnett Central with 182 rushing yards.

Dante DiMaggio, Cardinal Gibbons: Caught six passes for 166 yards and passed for one touchdown in a 14-12 win over Green Hope. Teammate Jackson O’Korn intercepted two passes and blocked a kick.

Blake Walters, Heritage: Passed for 200 yards in a 49-21 win over Holly Springs

Beau Barger, Wake Christian: Rushed for 148 of the Bulldogs’ 366 yards on the ground in a 34-12 win over Chatham Central.
