Woman charged, two men sought in Raleigh hotel-room robbery

From staff reportsAugust 28, 2013

— A Raleigh woman was being held in lieu of $400,000 bail Wednesday on charges that she used a shotgun to rob two men earlier this month.

According to arrest warrants taken out by Raleigh police, Khristal Lynn Gortva, 29, of 9221 Dominion Blvd. was one of a group that robbed two men in a room at a Homestead Studio Suites hotel at 4810 Bluestone Drive early on Aug. 10.

The charges against her are two counts each of robbery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy to commit that crime.

Police said two men reported that they answered a knock on the door of the room where they were living shortly after midnight and opened it to find a woman and two men, with one of the men holding a shotgun.

One man told police that the trio took $600 from him, and the other said he lost $800 to them.

Detectives took Gortva in for questioning Tuesday and charged her that afternoon.

The robbery likely was not random, police spokesman Jim Sughrue said, and it appeared that Gortva knew the men in the room.

Detectives are looking for the men they said they believe were with Gortva.

She was scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday.
