David Gehrman: McCrory’s foot in mouth

Foot in mouth

I am certainly no supporter of recent and current efforts of our lawmakers regarding medical care, education, voting and environmental issues.

Therefore, I am also no fan of the governor, although I am pleased with his recent vetoes. But even a “radical liberal” such as myself can pass on the meaningless stuff such as 80 percent of the things he has to attend to are “boring.” I have had several boring jobs in my lifetime, but I took them seriously. That means I paid attention to what I was doing and did the best I could. I take the governor to mean that they are routine and not political or partisan.

Wonder why he didn’t just come out and say that? Maybe because neither the young guns or the old ones are attentive enough to nuances of our language. Seems to me lawmakers think quick responses are necessary so they open their mouths and insert feet before thinking.
