Raleigh police find body in wrecked vehicle

A deceased male with gunshot injuries was found inside a wrecked vehicle at the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Poole Road early Sunday morning by Raleigh police.

Police said there were reports that people fled from the vehicle after the crash.

Officers were notified of shots being fired in the 1200 block of New Bern Avenue at 3:15 a.m. Sunday, according to a police news release. Fifteen minutes later, police were notified of a vehicles crash at Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Poole Road.

The two incidents may have been related, but detectives have not made a final determination, police said.
