Gas leak temporarily closes streets in downtown Chapel Hill

— A gas leak at a construction site closed portions of West Franklin and West Rosemary streets in downtown Chapel Hill this afternoon, but both streets have reopened, according to police.

The leak is at a construction site on West Rosemary Street. Some businesses in the area were evacuated as a precaution.

Repair crews were on the scene as of 3:15 pm, and police said the streets had reopened by 3:40 p.m.
