Time to speak out
The N.C. Association of Educators has lobbyists and leaders who have worked with elected officials since the 1970s trying to ensure that policies are fair and supportive of educational communities.
We have helped raise awareness of the need for effective teachers in every classroom, for educators to have a voice in their school community and for them to have a salary schedule that attracts the quality educator every student deserves.
Our fight did not begin this spring. In May 2011, NCAE held a rally in Raleigh focused on the proposed budget.
Over 9,000 educators and supporters helped deliver the message to elected leaders that educators were worth the 1-cent sales tax that was about to sunset. On that day, the education community made enemies because we spoke out in disagreement with legislators.
Educators are life-long learners who should be compensated for earning advanced degrees that help them know how to educate all students.
Educators are honest, dedicated and caring individuals who teach children every day, no matter the barriers or reforms.
Educators have grown weary of the lack of respect. They can no longer stand quietly on the sidelines. It is their time to take the lead.
