Not a bonus

Pay commensurate with a master’s degree is not a “bonus.” A bonus is a gift over and above expected pay. Teachers, like professionals in nearly every profession, deserve to be paid for their increased expertise, whether that be in the form of deeper content knowledge, enhanced instructional skills or expanded flexibility in the role(s) they can play in their schools.
