Donna Wolcott: Tighter taxpayers

Tighter taxpayers

In the Sept. 3 news story “What if voters reject bonds?” Ed Jones, chairman of the Wake County Taxpayers Association, had good advice about funding for schools: “They’re going to tighten their belt maybe a little bit and focus on academics.”

Trouble is, he directed it at the schools rather than at the taxpayers. Taxpayers collectively share the task of providing support for the services such as quality schools that benefit us all.

I’m blessed to be a property owner. I’m ready to tighten my belt a little bit and support schools.
