Raleigh man arrested in online solicitation of minor

— A Raleigh man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of soliciting sex from a minor online, Wake Forest police reported.

Matthew Lincoln Hassell, 26, of 2508 Weybridge Drive, was charged with solicitation of a child by computer to commit an unlawful sex act.

Police say Hassell communicated on the Internet with a child younger than 16 and asked for sex during a police investigation. He was booked into the Wake County Jail with bail set at $15,000.

The Wake Forest Police Department is part of a statewide task force of 135 law enforcement agencies that focus on Internet crimes against children. The N.C. Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force coordinates with law enforcement and prosecutors, both in this state and outside.

The State Bureau of Investigation is the lead agency in the task force.
