From staff reportsSeptember 9, 2013

— Police charged a 16-year-old with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle in connection with a crash last month between his car and a motorcycle whose rider died.

Jemiah Dene Williams of Raleigh was charged Friday in the Aug. 13 afternoon crash in which the 1996 Toyota that he was driving struck the motorcycle ridden by Steven William Jones, 43, of Garner.

Jones died at a hospital, police said.

Crash investigators said Williams failed to yield the right of way to Jones when Williams was making a left turn from eastbound Rock Quarry Road onto South New Hope Road.

Jones was going straight through the intersection coming from the other direction.

Williams was scheduled for a court appearance on Oct. 25.
