Robert A. Schiffman: No must-see TV

No must-see TV

The continuing “evolution” (apologies to conservatives) of the Republican image took another turn when Republican party leaders voted to prohibit the participation of CNN and NBC in the 2016 presidential debates (“GOP boycotts networks over Clinton shows,” Aug. 17 news article).

I would imagine that in the long run, their sensitivity and fabricated outrage will only hurt their chances in the next election. Besides, if 2012 is any indication, these seemingly endless debates generally lack real substance. Instead, they are more like “gotcha moments” of poorly scripted reality shows.
