CHAPEL HILL — Two games into the ACC schedule and second-ranked North Carolina is still looking for its first conference win.
The Tar Heels (2-0-2, 0-0-2 ACC) and 18th-ranked Maryland played to a 2-2 draw Friday night at Fetzer Field.
Each team scored a pair of goals in the first half, but couldnt find the game winner over the final 65 minutes of play.
Maryland (1-2-2, 1-0-1 ACC) took the lead at the 10:46 mark off a goal from Schillo Tshuma.
Minutes after Maryland struck first, UNC defender Jordan McCrary was taken down in the penalty area giving the Heels a penalty kick. Midfielder Raby George made the most of it tying the score at the 13:20 mark.
Omar Holness recorded his first collegiate goal to give North Carolina what proved its last lead.
North Carolina will visit Campbell on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
