South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney told the Spartanburg (S.C.) Herald Journal he will need surgery on his right foot after the season, but hell play through the pain of the next nine, possibly 10 games.
Its painful, Clowney told the paper. Im out here playing on it, though, just trying to give it everything Ive got.
If Clowneys really hurt, someone at South Carolina starting with the coach should advise the future No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft to take care of himself first and not sacrifice millions in future earnings.
If Clowneys not really hurt and merely crying wolf after a slow start, then someone should advise him to keep quiet and get better on the field.
Either way, Clowneys decision to go public reflects poorly on him and South Carolina.
The fledgling Longhorn Network would be wise to turn the cameras on Texas coach Mack Brown and athletic director DeLoss Dodds for the remainder of the season. There wont be better reality programming anywhere else on TV.
Brown, whos 62, is the coach who insists hes safe with his gig the best in all of college football despite mounting pressure and another embarrassing loss on Saturday (44-23 to Ole Miss).
Dodds, whos 74, is the AD who insists the coach is safe and his own job is safe despite mounting pressure after another embarrassing loss in another embarrassing season.
Even Angela Lansbury thinks these two might want to check out while the getting is good.
I still think the sand is running through the hourglass on Frank Beamers 27-year reign at Virginia Tech but much respect to Beamer for how he handled Saturdays postgame after a 15-10 win at East Carolina
After senior kicker Cody Journell missed four kicks in the second half one extra point and three field goals from inside of 40 yards Beamer jumped in front of the bus for Journell.
He will be right, Beamer said. He is way too good to be kicking like that.
Given all the trouble Journell has been worth, legal and otherwise, that was a classy move by Beamer, who showed the fortitude to protect the kid from blame just because it was the right thing to do.
