CARY — An 11-year-old West Cary Middle School student was hurt Tuesday morning when a car hit him near the school, Cary police said.
The student, a boy, did not appear to have life-threatening injuries, town spokeswoman Susan Moran said.
The boy was taken to a hospital, and a parent was in the ambulance with him, Moran said.
The car reportedly was not traveling fast when the accident happened shortly before 8 a.m.
Police diverted traffic from Northwest Maynard Road for a time while they established what had happened.
The school is at the corner of Evans and Northwest Maynard roads.
