Fred Stahl: Ensuring success?

Ensuring success?

With the elections of 2010 and 2012, Republicans took control of the North Carolina legislature and governor’s mansion. And they succeeded despite an election process that (if they are to be believed) made voting way too easy and accessible for too many Tar Heals and amid voter fraud apparently so rampant as to require some of the most stringent voter restrictions in the U.S. to be rushed into law at breakneck speed.

So it would appear that in 2010 and 2012 Republicans actually benefited from easy and accessible voting and supposedly widespread voter fraud. I wonder how they hope to win future elections when, as a result of the new election rules, the benefits of accessible voting and voter fraud that they have recently enjoyed are gone? Can it be that in their zeal to enact wide-ranging voting restrictions, our Republican legislators and governor failed to think through all the ramifications of their actions?
