Police bring death-by-vehicle charge in fatal Raleigh collision

From staff reportsSeptember 18, 2013

— Police have added a charge of felony death by vehicle against Lakeisha Yolanda Jones of Sanford, who already faced a count of driving while impaired and failure to yield the right of way in an Aug. 31 car-motorcycle crash that killed Bradley Pelletier of Raleigh.

Jones, 25, was driving the car that struck Pelletier’s Harley-Davidson at Wake Forest Road and Creekside Drive early that Saturday, police said.

They added the felony charge Tuesday afternoon.

Pelletier was turning left when Pelletier, 52, was going straight through the intersection on a green light, a police report said.

Police commonly consult with the district attorney’s office to determine if charges should be added in traffic cases.

Jones was freed on bond and scheduled for a court appearance Wednesday.

She is due in court on Sept. 27 on the DWI charge and Oct. 18 on the failure to yield citation.
