Wake Tech has new emergency alert system

From staff reportsSeptember 19, 2013

Wake Tech Community College is launching a new emergency notification system that will send voice, text and email alerts of campus emergencies, safety hazards and inclement weather.

Wake Tech employees and degree-seeking students are automatically registered for Wake Tech WARN via their email, said school spokeswoman Laurie C. Clowers. They can list additional email addresses and phone numbers at warn.waketech.edu. Parents, family members, students taking non-credit classes and others in the community are invited to sign up as well.

Wake Tech WARN is powered by Regroup messaging platform, and can send 3,000 phone calls and 10,000 text and email alerts per minute. Wake Tech is the state’s largest community college, handling nearly 69,000 students a year at five campuses, two training centers and multiple community sites.
