Crash backs up traffic at I-40/I-440 junction in southeast Raleigh

Numerous ambulances were sent to an accident at the junction of Interstate 40 and Interstate 440 in southeast Raleigh on Friday morning, and traffic was backed up.

There were no immediate reports of life-threatening injuries, but Emergency Medical Services officials decided multiple ambulances should go to the scene.

One of two travel lanes was closed at the scene, and traffic going from I-40 onto westbound I-440 was backed up.

The accident happened shortly before 10 a.m.
