Jack Chrismon: Where dues go

Where dues go

The author of the Sept. 15 letter “Don’t be conned” must not be well-informed as to how NCAE dues money is used. Dues money is not used for political activities or given to political candidates. Members give contributions to the political action arm of the association (NCAE-PAC) on a volunteer basis.

The writer states that dues money is given to Democratic Party candidates, but this is not true. PAC funds are given to a candidate (either party) who supports public education. Unfortunately, (note the last session of the state legislature) not many Republican Party candidates support public education.
