Gail Neely: More guns, more murders

More guns, murders

In the Sept. 14 news article “Police review state’s new ‘save the gun’ law,” Sen. Andrew Brock said, “Critics who think it safer if there are fewer guns on the streets are misinformed. The data shows more guns means a better behaved society. Gun bans don’t work. Bad guys aren’t going to pay attention to gun bans.”

Actually, Brock is the one who is misinformed. A massive peer-reviewed study, published this month in the American Journal of Public Health, found that the greater the number of gun owners in the United States, the higher the gun murder rate. Researchers examined 29 years of gun ownership and concluded that more gun owners correlates to more gun murder and suicide.

Just who is trying to ban guns?
