Giles Barnes and Boniek Garcia both scored a pair of goals on Saturday as the Houston Dynamo rolled to a 5-1 drubbing of Chivas USA at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Coming off an impressive 1-0 victory on the road against Philadelphia last week which vaulted them into the postseason picture, the Dynamo started quickly in front of their home fans and grabbed the first goal of the night in the 39th minute when Barnes headed home a Brad Davis corner kick.
Chivas USA equalized after the break with a goal from Eric Avila in the 50th minute, but Houston took firm control of the match as the home side responded with four unanswered tallies.
Barnes completed his brace in the 54th minute for a 2-1 Houston lead and Will Bruin put one past Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy 10 minutes later for a two- goal Dynamo margin.
Boniek Garcia netted his first goal of the season 11 minutes from time and added a second goal in stoppage time to put the result to bed for the Dynamo, who improved their hold on a playoff position, moving to 43 points on the season.
