The Assistance League of the Triangle Area awarded scholarships to seven local high school students this year.

The scholarships, which are to be put toward college education at North Carolina schools, are open to students in Wake, Durham or Orange counties and are awarded based on financial need, scholastic aptitude, an essay and a balance of academic and extracurricular activities.

This year’s scholarship recipients were Jacob Jacobs of Wake Forest-Rolesville High School; Brittany Jeatter of Jordan High School in Durham; Aryn Kontos of Holly Springs High School; Samantha Mazza of Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh; Alex Medlin of Millbrook High School in Raleigh; Jeymi Ramirez-Nataren of Wakefield High School in Raleigh; and Andrew Waddell of Broughton High School in Raleigh.

The Assistance League of the Triangle Area is a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of local women, children and families.
