Mr. and Mrs. David Jordan Whichard, IV

Jessica Barrett Slider and David Jordan Whichard, IV of Washington, D.C. were united in marriage on Saturday, June 22, 2013 at 5:30 pm at Hawkins Beach in Bath. The Reverend Elizabeth Grimshaw officiated at the double-ring ceremony. A reception followed at the Washington Yacht and Country Club in Washington.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Slider of Pewamo, Michigan and the late Claudia Ann Barrett. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Keith Samuel Slider of Holly, Michigan, the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Edwin Barrett of Cordova, TN and the late Mr. and Mrs. Leroy F. Soeltner of Lansing, Michigan.

The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Jordan Whichard, III of Greenville. He is the grandson of Ms. Kathryn VanNortwick Whichard and Mr. and Mrs. David Jordan Whichard, II of Greenville, and Mr. Hugh Brooks Barwick, Jr. of Clinton and the late Rachel Cozart Barwick.

The bride was escorted by her father. Linda Thomas of San Francisco, CA served as Maid of Honor. Bridesmaids were Anna Rafdal, Nora Cohen, Hallie Schneir, Anna Brooks Whichard, sister of the groom, all of Washington DC, and Candie Slider, sister in law of the bride, of Reno, Nevada.

David Jordan Whichard, III, father of the groom, of Greenville, served as Best Man. Groomsmen were Charles Archie, Alex Bean, both of Raleigh, John Currin of Charlotte, Jack Lynch, IV of Winston-Salem, Wade Scales, IV of Greenville, Carl Short, III of Chapel Hill, Nick Slider, brother of the bride, of Reno, Nevada, and Bill Yates, Jr. of Charlottesville, VA.

Readers were Katherine Oakley of Raleigh and Marika Brenes of Boston, MA, friends of the bride and groom.

The bride is a graduate of Southern Illinois University where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Radio and Television. The groom is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and Management in Society.

After a honeymoon trip to Belize, the couple is residing in Washington, DC.
