On third-and-13 from the Carolina 38, Cam Newton scrambles 14 yards for a first down in Giants territory. It’s the first of three rushes (for 40 yards) for Newton on a 59-yard touchdown drive to put the Panthers up 7-0.

After a Newton interception, the Giants take over at the Carolina 17. On their first play, David Wilson goes around left end for an apparent touchdown, but a holding penalty on left tackle Will Beatty nullifies it. The drive ends with a missed field-goal attempt by Josh Brown.

On first-and-10 from the Carolina 30 on the Panthers’ first possession of the second half, running back DeAngelo Williams finds a hole on the left side and bolts 27 yards to the Giants 43. It’s the longest gain on a six-play, 80-yard touchdown drive that gives the Panthers a 24-0 lead.

11:00 left, third quarter

On third-and-8 from the Giants 22, Manning throws a short pass to Victor Cruz. But cornerback Melvin White goes through Cruz for his first interception. The Panthers take a 31-0 lead four minutes later.

52 seconds left, fourth quarter

From the New York 38, Giants backup quarterback Curtis Painter lofts a throw toward Brandon Myers that rookie safety Robert Lester picks off, preserving the Panthers’ first shutout in five years.
