Friday’s schedule at 'World of Bluegrass'

“Full circle” is a key concept in the career of Marty Raybon – he topped the mainstream country charts with his band Shenandoah in the ’90s, had a crossover hit in a duo with his brother with the song “Butterfly Kisses,” and more recently has released gospel albums and earned praise as a bluegrass singer with a soulful voice. With band Full Circle, he released the album “The Back Forty” earlier this year. Marty Raybon & Full Circle will play at noon Friday at the Raleigh Convention Center Stage.

Claire Lynch launched her bluegrass career in the ’70s, when there weren’t a lot of women in the club. Since then, she has blazed a path as a bandleader, singer and songwriter. She’s provided backing vocals to Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris, Ralph Stanley and many more, and her songs have been recorded by Patty Loveless, The Seldom Scene and others. But she’s not one to fade into the background: the Claire Lynch Band itself has racked up awards, and last year she was awarded a prestigious grant from the U.S. Artists Fellowship program. The Clair Lynch Band will play at 1:20 p.m. Friday at the Raleigh Convention Center Stage.
