— The SPCA of Wake County has chosen a new executive director.

Kim Janzen, president and CEO of the Kansas Humane Society, will join the Raleigh-based organization in early November, SPCA board president Matt Cunningham said Thursday.

“Kim Janzen has been praised for her positive leadership, energy, enthusiasm and passion for animal care issues, as well as her ability to forge partnerships and consensus in the public and private sector,” Cunningham said. “Kim is a great fit for our organization and for this community.”

Janzen will make her first official appearance at the annual SPCA of Wake County Fur Ball on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the State Club on N.C. State University’s Centennial Campus. The SPCA of Wake County is a private, nonprofit organization that operates a no-kill animal shelter.
