Saturday’s ‘World of Bluegrass’ schedule

  • One to watch

    Multiple IBMA nominee Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, whose Mike Munford won best banjo player Thursday, will be busy Saturday night. The band will be at the Center Stage at City Plaza at 7:45 p.m. for a free show. Then it will be at Long View Center at 11 p.m. Tickets for that show cost $10.

Wide Open Bluegrass Street Festival

Fayetteville Street, Noon-11 p.m. All music is free.

Features the whole hog barbecue championship and music on various stages. The North Carolina Bluegrass Pavilion also will be free to the public in the Raleigh Convention Center.

City Plaza Stage – Flatt Lonesome, Grasstowne, Reno & Harrell, Kids on Bluegrass, Jim Lauderdale, John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band, Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen, Chatham County Line.

Martin Street Stage – Iron Mountain Messengers, Samantha Casey & The Bluegrass Jam, Tommy Edwards and The Bluegrass Experience, Si Kahn & Looping Brothers, Snyder Family Band, Larry Cordle & Lonesome Standard Time, Terry Baucom, Skip Cherryholmes Quintet.

Hargett Street Stage – Henhouse Prowlers, Erin McDermott, Barefoot Movement, Phoebe Hunt, Missy Raines & The New Hip, Mipso, John Jorgenson Bluegrass Band.

Youth Stage – The Willis Clan, Snyder Family Band, Lonesome Meadow, Vicki Vaughn Band, Flatt Lonesome.

Dance Tent – Family Square Dance with The Carolina Catbirds, Apple Chill Cloggers with The Kickin Grass Band, Scythian, Old Habits.

Raleigh Convention Center – Nu-Blu, Audie Blaylock & Redline, Dale Ann Bradley, Darin & Brooke Aldridge, Detour, Michael Cleveland & Flamekeeper, Travelin’ McCourys, Peter Rowan, Kruger Brothers with the Kontras Quartet.

Red Hat Amphitheater Stage – Kickin’ Grass Band, The Gibson Brothers, Della Mae, Dailey & Vincent featuring Statler Brother Jimmy Fortune, Bela Fleck, Danny Paisley, Ronnie McCoury, Jason Carter, Alan Bartram, Seldom Scene, The Infamous Stringdusters. The closing act, at 9:15 p.m., is Steve Martin and Steep Canyon Rangers, featuring Edie Brickell.
