Christine Lang: A serious oath

A serious oath

I am so proud to live in a community a few miles away from a wonderful university where a physician and professor of the UNC School of Medicine teaches young minds valuable lessons not only in the classroom but through his actions. Charles M. van der Horst wrote a very eloquent Point of View “Plea deal on protest? No, thanks” about his protest at Moral Monday and subsequent court hearing.

His opinions regarding his experience and what the current governor and legislature are doing to North Carolina are profound insights into how our residents will be directly affected by these strict laws that deny North Carolinians medical care and other life-saving programs. Not being familiar with the oath that physicians take to practice and teach other young minds, I appreciate van der Horst stating the words and knowing that there is at least one physician who takes his duty very seriously.

He should be thanked for standing up for “the life and health of Thy creatures!”
