Whitney Elizabeth Black Pennell

Whitney Elizabeth Black and Nathaniel David Pennell were married at 4:00 pm on September 21, 2013 at Bethesda Baptist Church in Durham, NC. Pastor Jacob Green officiated. A reception followed at Bethesda Baptist Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Barry Black of Durham. She is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. O.C. Mitchell, Jr. and of Mrs. Betsy Black and the late Mr. Wilson Black. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. David Pennell of Durham. He is the grandson of Mrs. Eunice Pennell and the late Mr. Waverly Pennell and of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Taylor. The Maid of Honor was Miss Meredith Holliday of Raleigh, cousin and best friend of the bride. Bridesmaids were Miss Chelsea Wilborn of Durham, Mrs. Lyndsey Jones of Creedmoor, Mrs. Keri Goss of Durham, Miss Jennifer Smith of Franklinton, and Mrs. Mandy Dutton of Durham. The best man was Mr. David Pennell, father of the groom of Durham. Other groomsmen were Mr. Kevin Jones of Creedmoor, Mr. Brad Clements, Mr. Justin Goss, and Mr. Chad Taylor of Durham and Mr. Jesse Higgins of Fuqua-Varina. Ushers were Mr. Justin Goss, Chad Taylor, Jesse Higgins, Austin Wyatt, and Justin Dutton. Program attendants were Meredith Wyatt of Butner and Caitlynn Taylor of Stem. Guest book attendant was Miss Miranda Mitchell of Hurdle Mills. Flower girl was Miss Ella Goss, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Goss. Ring bearer was Mr. Landon Dutton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Justin Dutton. The bride is a graduate of North Raleigh Christian Academy and is currently in nursing school at Durham Technical Community College. She is currently working at Duke University Hospital. The groom is a graduate of Southern High School of Durham and of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a Bachelor degree in Art. He is currently employed as a Graphic Designer at Mincey’s Graphics in Durham. After a honeymoon to the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the couple will reside in Durham.
