Raleigh's Fairview Road bridge to close for 35 days

From staff reportsOctober 2, 2013

— The Fairview Road bridge over Capital Boulevard will be closed for 35 days for repairs starting next week.

The N.C. Department of Transportation plans to replace the concrete roadway, make substructure repairs and repaint the 53-year-old bridge. The road is scheduled to close Thursday and reopen Nov. 13.

Motorists traveling north on Capital Boulevard who use the Fairview Road exit will instead be directed to exit onto Wade Avenue and turn onto Glenwood Avenue to access Fairview. Southbound Fairview Road drivers will turn right onto a service road that parallels Fairview, and then turn left to get on Capital Boulevard.

The work may also require DOT to close lanes on southbound Capital Boulevard, but those closures would be limited to overnight hours to minimize traffic delays.
