New Bern Avenue wreck knocks out traffic signals

— An overnight accident brought down utility lines along New Bern Avenue heading into downtown Raleigh near North Peartree Lane, and police were directing traffic Thursday morning because traffic lights were not operating.

Police had closed inbound lanes of the road, but reopened them shortly before 8 a.m.

The scene of the one-car accident was a few hundred feet southwest of the Wake Technical Community College campus on New Bern Avenue.
