RALEIGH — A pedestrian struck by a car on Saturday has died at WakeMed, the Raleigh Police Department announced on Thursday evening.
David Earl Hamilton Jr., of Goldsboro, was hit by a 2002 Ford Explorer as he crossed Capital Boulevard at its intersection with Spring Forest Road.
Hamilton, 24, did not obey a Do Not Walk signal as he attempted to cross the five-lane road around 10:15 p.m., according to a crash report.
The speed limit at the site of the crash is 45 mph. An initial police report did not estimate the vehicles speed, but noted that it left no tire marks before impact.
The Explorer, driven by a 42-year-old Raleigh woman, was southbound with a green light.
Police have issued no charges against the vehicles driver.
