ACA could ‘break us’
Just got my new health plan cost from Blue Cross Blue Shield, and my new comparable ACA health plan went from $628.99 to $1,203.71 per month. This covers me and my wife, both in our late 50s, both in good health and nonsmokers. We were supposed to be in the category with little impact.
I really feel sorry for the young folks who were supposed to get hit worse. Maybe their cost tripled rather than doubled. We have had individual insurance with BCBS since 2001 and routinely suffered double-digit percentage increases each year to the point that we changed our plan to a more affordable one last year. We unfortunately don’t qualify for any subsidies, but it is clear that if all the people who do qualify got bills like we did, it won’t take long for ACA to break us all, including the government.
