Statistically speaking: Small business owners reflect on running companies

Forty percent of small-business owners wish they’d known more about management before starting their business, according to a survey released in September conducted by Staples. The survey of 500 small-business owners also found:

94% are confident in managing their finances.

48% will pay others before paying themselves.

23% said they bounced a check in the past year.

45% know basic accounting principles such as “accounts receivable” and “accounts payable.”
