DURHAM — Police are asking for the publics help in finding whoever is responsible for a grisly, 2009 homicide at an apartment in South Durham.
It was just after 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 30, 2009, when police were called to the home of Ronald Fetherson, 53, at 1207 Truman Street at the McDougald Terrace Apartments.
Someone had stabbed Fetherson five times, including a fatal wound to the neck. The killer also had struck Fetherson in the face and head and had cut off his penis and one of his earlobes, police said.
Investigators reported that the mutilation indicated that Fetherson may have been killed by someone close to him. He was last seen alive about 8 p.m. the day before he was found dead, police said.
Investigators ask anyone with information about the case to call the Durham Police Department at 919-560-4440, or CrimeStoppers at 919-683-1200. CrimeStoppers pays cash rewards for information leading to arrests in felony cases, and callers do not have to identify themselves.
