RALEIGH — A man who told police he lives in New Jersey is charged with attempted murder after police say he beat another man severely with a bottle during a robbery attempt east of downtown late Monday night.
Police say Britis Anruce Previlon, 31, beat Curtis Ray Woodard, 64, in the 900 block of East Hargett Street at about 11:15 p.m., then took off on foot.
Police, with the help of a Wake County Sheriffs Office canine team, found Previlon about 1 a.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of South State Street.
Woodard was reported to be in critical condition Wednesday at WakeMed in Raleigh.
In addition to attempted murder, Previlon also was charged with attempted robbery with a dangerous weapon and resisting a police officer during his arrest. He is being held in lieu of $1 million cash bail on the attempted murder charge and $500 bond on the resisting charge.
