Police charge Raleigh woman locked up daughter, solicited cop for sex

— A 39-year-old mother was being held in the Wake County Detention Center on Thursday, waiting for a Nov. 5 court appearance on charges that she locked her daughter in their Garner Road apartment Tuesday evening and solicited a police officer for sex on a nearby street corner.

April Dorian Hitchcock was being held in lieu of $5,000 bail on charges of soliciting for prostitution and child abuse, both misdemeanors.

Police arrested her about 10 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of Branch Street and Garner Road, according to an arrest report.

Hitchcock lives at 1312 Garner Road.

According to an arrest warrant, Hitchcock endangered her daughter, who is described only as being under 16, “by leaving her child alone inside her locked residence without the child being able to escape the residence in the event of fire or other emergency.”

It also charged that she solicited the police officer”for the purpose of prostitution.”
