RALEIGH — Police arrested a Raleigh man Thursday who is suspected of stealing a vehicle and injuring three people in a hit-and-run crash last year.
Donte Lamarkas Alston, listed as both 26 and 27 in court documents, is accused of failing to remain at the scene of a crash. The Sept. 15, 2012 crash resulted in injuries to three people, according to a Raleigh Police Department arrest warrant.
Alston also is accused of stealing a red 2012 Chevrolet Camaro worth about $30,000 on the same date, police reports state.
A crash report from 2012 states the Camaro was owned by Hertz Rental Car and it was stolen just before the wreck. Alston failed to reduce his speed and struck a vehicle occupied by an adult and two children, the report states. Alston then fled the scene on foot.
He also faces charges of failure to appear, failure to reduce speed and driving without an operators license. Alston, of 1930 Booker Drive, Apartment 102, was being held Thursday night at the Wake County Detention Center with bail set at $7,000 bail.
