Greater Neuse River 4A volleyball tournament set; Clayton is No. 1 seed

The Greater Neuse River 4A Conference volleyball tournament begins Saturday at West Johnston High School. Clayton and Garner tied for the regular-season conference championship. Clayton won the drawing to determine the No. 1 seed for the tournament.

If Clayton and Garner meet in the finals, the winner will be the league’s No. 1 state playoff seed. If only one of those two teams makes the finals, that team gets the No. 1 seed. If they both fail to make the finals, they will play at seeding game for the No. 1 seed at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the site of the championship match.

Saturday's quarterfinals at West Johnston High

(8) Rolesville vs. (1) Clayton, 10 a.m. (main gym)

(5) Knightdale vs. (4) East Wake, noon (aux. gym)

(7) West Johnston vs. (2) Garner, 10 a.m. (aux. gym)

(6) Harnett Central vs. (3) Southeast Raleigh, noon (main gym)

Monday, Oct. 14 semifinals at highest remaining seed

Clayton/Rolesville winner vs. East Wake/Knightdale winner, TBA

Southeast Raleigh/Harnett Central winner vs. West Johnston/Garner winner, TBA

(Highest remaining seed/host team will play 7 p.m. match; other match is at 5 p.m.)

Wednesday, Oct. 16 finals at highest remaining seed
