CHEAT BRIDGE, W.Va. — An emergency services official says a truck has collided with a train taking passengers on a scenic tour during the peak of fall foliage season in West Virginia, causing multiple injuries.

Pocahontas County emergency services director Shawn Dunbrack said two passenger cars on the Durbin & Greenbrier Railroad train overturned in the accident at 1:30 p.m. Friday along U.S. Route 250 near Cheat Bridge.

He said authorities were trying to determine the extent of injuries, but he estimated at least 10 people may have been hurt.

State police responded to the scene. Calls to a state police spokesman and railroad owner John Smith weren't immediately returned.

The Cheat Mountain Salamander runs Tuesdays through Saturdays in October on a 6.5-hour trip.

Cheat Bridge is about 160 miles east of Charleston.
