Texas Southern tops Arkansas-Pine Bluff 41-28

— Daveonn Porter broke two tackles en route to a 56-yard touchdown run that sealed Texas Southern's 41-28 win over late-charging Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday Night.

Quarterback Homer Causey tallied a career-high 196 yards rushing and two touchdowns, just one week after being sacked eight times and finishing with negative-83 yards on the ground. He added touchdown passes of 12 and 49 yards in the first quarter as TSU opened up a 17-7 lead.

Cody Swain's 22-yard touchdown catch with 4:41 to play pulled UAPB within six before Porter put the game on ice.

TSU (1-5, 1-4 SWAC), which came into the game averaging 9.8 points per contest, finished with 355 yards rushing, 48 more than in their first five games combined (307).

Porter set a career-high with 156 yards rushing and tied a career-high with 20 carries.

UAPB (0-6, 0-4) totaled 522 yards of offense but had three turnovers.
