Local teens assist in N.C. House

Aubrey Surgers of Cary, Shelby Bailey of Chapel Hill and Corey Lewis, William Smith, Alexandria Spoor and Jane Sullivan of Raleigh served as a pages for a week earlier this year in the N.C. House of Representatives.

Pages deliver bills and other documents for lawmakers and help with clerical work and errands around the legislature.

Aubrey, a student at Panther Creek High School and the son of Aubrey and Sherri James-Surgers, was sponsored by Rep. Elmer Floyd.

Shelby was a student at Chapel Hill High School and is the daughter of Jane Crewse. She was sponsored by Rep. Verla Insko.

Corey Lewis, homeschooled and the son of Carlton and Lynne Lewis, was sponsored by Rep. Thom Tillis.

William Smith, the son of William A. Smith III and Anne Harvey Smith, and Alexandria, the daughter of Jay and Jamie Spoor, both attended Broughton High School and were sponsored as pages by Rep. Ruth Samuelson.

Jane, a student at Sanderson High School and the daughter of Alan and Laura Sullivan, was sponsored by Rep. Allen McNeill.
