Around the remote: Television picks for the week of Oct. 13-19

Published: October 13, 2013

DON'T MISS:

"The Walking Dead" - As Season 4 of the zombie splatfest begins, the prison is at peace, the evil Governor is nowhere in sight and Rick (Andrew Lincoln) is enjoying a stress-life life as a farmer. The new normal? Yeah, right. Something tells us that all this serenity won't last much past the first commercial break. 9 p.m. Sunday, AMC.

OTHER BETS:

SUNDAY: On "The Good Wife," Alicia (Julianna Margulies) suddenly has second thoughts about leaving the firm after Will (Josh Charles) makes a stunning offer. Meanwhile, Diane's (Christine Baranski) Supreme Court candidacy puts her at odds with her colleagues. 9 p.m., CBS.

SUNDAY: We really hate it when this happens: On "Drop Dead Diva," a woman in couples therapy is injured during a wife-swapping exercise. Do you smell a lawsuit? 9 p.m., Lifetime.

MONDAY: Let the battle rounds begin! Yes, it's time to put up or shut up as "The Voice" moves into its next phase in the search for a superstar singer. Ryan Tedder, Cher, Ed Sheeran and Miguel arrive to help prep the contestants. 8 p.m., NBC.

MONDAY: On "Bones," Brennan and Booth (Emily Deschanel and David Boreanaz) start to plan their wedding. Pinch us. Is this really going to happen? 8 p.m., Fox.

TUESDAY: "Second Chances" is the theme as "The Biggest Loser" returns to deal with more weighty issues. Among the contestants: Season 2 "American Idol" winner Ruben Studdard and Olympic weightlifter Holley Mangold. 8 p.m., NBC.

TUESDAY: Fan boys and girls, rejoice. "Superheroes: A Never-Ending Battle" is a three-hour special that traces the evolution of the popular comic-book genre and its worldwide cultural impact. 8 p.m., PBS.

WEDNESDAY: Buzz and Woody return in "Toy Story of Terror!" It's a new Halloween special that has the gang experiencing mysterious events - including the disappearance of Mr. Potato Head - during a frightful road trip. 8 p.m., ABC.

THURSDAY: "Reign" is essentially a European history lesson for the "Gossip Girl" crowd. Adelaide Kane plays a young Mary, Queen of Scots in a sudsy saga filled with love, sex, betrayal and heaping doses of poetic license. 9 p.m., The CW.

THURSDAY: As "White Collar" returns with fresh episodes, Neal (Matt Bomer) takes drastic measures to clear Peter (Tim DeKay) who is in prison facing murder charges for Pratt's death. 9 p.m., USA.

FRIDAY: You just never know what's going to get pitched on "Shark Tank." Tonight, a couple of guys from North Carolina have a bright idea for a goat-renting service to help people remove weeds from their lawns. 9 p.m., ABC.

SATURDAY: In the TV film, "When Calls the Heart," a young society woman (Maggie Grace) must learn the ways of the frontier when she lands a teaching position in small prairie town. Jean Smart and Lori Loughlin also star. 9 p.m., Hallmark.
