DURHAM — Duke quarterback Anthony Boone and right tackle Perry Simmons are ACC Players of the Week after helping Duke top Navy 35-7 on Saturday.
Boone, a redshirt junior, was named ACC Offensive Back of the Week, while Simmons, a redshirt senior, earned ACC Offensive Lineman of the Week. The awards mark the third consecutive game week in which a Duke player earned ACC weekly honors and the first such awards for Boone and Simmons this season.
North Carolina will host 37 games at Boshamer Stadium and play 20 games against teams that reached last season's NCAA Championship as part of its 2014 schedule, coach Mike Fox announced Monday.
Sitting at 14-3 overall with a 5-1 record in the ACC, Duke earned a No.24 ranking in the AVCA Division I Coaches Poll. The Blue Devils are making their first appearance in the national rankings since Sept. 12, 2011.
Campbell goalkeeper Ethan Hall is the Big South men’s defensive player of the week. A senior from Raleigh’s Athens Drive High, Hall posted a 0.90 goals-against average and went 1-0-1 on the week as the Camels remained unbeaten in Big South play. He had 4 saves in last Tuesday’s win at Winthrop and 4 in a 1-1 draw Saturday against Radford.
