Tom Oriel: Respectful protests

October 15, 2013

Regarding the Oct. 8 article “Police at protests were on lookout”: I don’t understand the warped mind of General Assembly Police Chief Jeff Weaver.

I attended the church meeting prior to entering the legislative building. Rev. William Barber stressed that it was a very serious undertaking and that we should respect all the police officers involved. There was nothing to hide. All those involved were respectful and civil during the arrests. No one was disorderly or acted like an anarchist.

I don’t know how anyone can tell an anarchist by looking at him. Weaver didn’t have to go far to see and arrest the anarchists. All he had to do was go into the General Assembly to find the legislators who were destroying our state government from within. The tea partyists are the real anarchists!
