Raleigh driver went airborne before fatal crash from I-540 to Glenwood Ave.

A traffic accident closed westbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue near Interstate-540 Wednesday morning, according to Raleigh police. Lanes were later reopened.

— The driver of a box truck was killed when he lost control on Interstate 540 and his vehicle crashed through a guardrail, going airborne and landing on Glenwood Avenue, according to police.

Jonathan Arrington, 26, of Raleigh was driving westbound a little after 8:20 a.m. when his two-axle truck veered to the right off the road, police said. A report released late Wednesday said the truck was traveling at 48 mph when it struck the guardrail.

Arrington ended up on the westbound lanes of Glenwood Avenue, and those remained closed for two hours while authorities cleared the accident.

Arrington was declared dead at the scene.
