Scott Hertenstein: Reduce these ‘seat warmers’

October 16, 2013

Recent suggestions by members of the N.C. General Assembly about reducing the number of state employees prompted me to suggest that we reduce the number of state senators to 25 and the number of representatives to 50. Transportation and communication have improved so much since the current numbers of 50 senators and 120 representatives were set that even though N.C. has lots more people now – 25 senators and 50 reps should be enough to represent all parts of N.C.
