Police recover body from ceiling of Durham store

From staff reportsOctober 16, 2013

— Emergency crews worked on Wednesday to remove a dead body from the ceiling area of a vacant convenience store, according to Durham police.

“I don’t know what they may have been doing, but there is a body that was discovered,” said Lt. D. Edwards, a watch commander for the Durham Police Department.

The store, located near Hillside New Tech High School, has been closed for several months or more, Edwards said.

Emergency services responded to a call about the body at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Edwards said; he did not know Wednesday night how long the remains may have been in the building.
